The True You
by Mark Batterson
Pastor Mark Batterson of
National Community Church, (www.theaterchurch.com
) in Washington, D.C wrote this book to underscore a preaching
series on the same topic. It focuses on helping people to discover
their true identity in Christ. He posits that the more you have
going for you, the more potential you have for identity problems—because
it’s easier for you to base your identity on the wrong thing.
He goes on to explain that all identity problems have the same
cause and the same cure. It doesn’t matter whether people go through
a quarter-life crisis, midlife crisis, or fourth-quarter crisis.
The cause is basing your identity on the wrong thing. The cure
is basing less and less of your identity on what you can do and
more and more of your identity on what God has done for you.
Pastors
and leaders need to apply this truth as much or more than anyone
else. Many spiritual leaders struggle with identity issues and
need a balanced, biblical perspective. This book will help.

Book: The Nomadic Church
by Bill Easum and Pete Theodore
Since
many pastors can relate to the struggles faced by churches which
have to move from meeting place to meeting place, The Nomadic
Church will speak to you in a practical way. Here’s what people
have said about this resource.
" No church
planter or planting church can afford to be without this book.
In a match made in heaven, Theodore’s fresh, original, primary,
deep-digging research is coupled with Easum’s matchless knowledge
and lifetime wisdom of church consultation." ~ Leonard Sweet
" The
Nomadic Church breathes the missional Spirit of Jesus Christ.
Through temporary facilities, contemporary outreach, and extraordinary
faith, Easum and Theodore move us back to the future and forward
to the past. If you refuse to let missional living be minimized
by maintenance, then you need this book…" ~ Greg Kappas, Co-founder;
International Church Planters Summit
3. Book:
Breakout Churches
by Thom S. Rainer
What are
breakout churches and can your church become one? This is the
story of thirteen churches and leaders who moved them from stagnancy
to growth and from mediocrity to greatness. Drawing on one of
the most comprehensive studies ever on the church, this book reveals
the process of becoming a “breakout” church and the factors that
lead to this spiritual metamorphosis.
Eighty
percent of the approximately 400,000 churches in the United States
are either declining or at a plateau. Is there hope for the American
church? Breakout Churches offers a resounding “YES!” and offers
specific examples and principles to help you and your church become
more effective.

Leadership is Stewardship by Rick Warren
The Leader's State of Mind by Bill Hybels
Leadership
is Stewardship – In this resource Rick Warren, challenges leaders
to take stock of and submit the gifts that God has given them.
He shares about how Moses submitted to God by laying down his
staff. In doing so, he laid down his identity, his income and
his influence. Warren will inspire you to look differently at
laying down your gifts and picking them back up as instruments
of the Most High God!
The Leader’s
State of Mind – In this valuable resource Bill Hybels challenges
leaders to get in touch with their “holy discontentment”. He presents
the functions of a leader as casting vision, building teams, leading
change, intercepting entropy and developing emerging leaders.
