May 3-5, 2002

New Life Family Center in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, held their annual Spring Conference May 3-5, 2002. The theme of the conference was “Mending the Nets”. Senior Pastor Phil Dowdy, a Vanguard member, had nothing but good things to report regarding this year’s event. The conference was attended by members of New Life Family Center as well as by other church leaders and pastors from as far as 65 miles away.

Lance Wallnau, Senior Pastor of Word of Life Covenant Church in Cranston, RI was the guest speaker. Overall, the conference was a powerful time of ministry for all who attended. Lance taught on “mending the nets” corporately and individually, and spoke a powerful and timely prophetic word as to the direction and focus of New Life Family Center. Anabelle Wallnau, Lance’s wife, ministered as well, leading a women’s brunch the second day of the conference.

New Life Family Center continues reaching out to the community of Elizabeth City with the love of Jesus through the ministry of their Resource Center. Pastor Phil says all is going well and they have been extremely busy in recent months. Many in the community receive much needed resources and goods as a result and doorways are opened for the spreading of the gospel. Doors also seem to be opening up for the church in the local political arena. Pastor Phil and other Pastors of Elizabeth City have met with the newly elected mayor and he has agreed to begin the upcoming city council meetings with prayer led by local pastors! The favor of the Lord is surely upon this church as they are impacting their city for Christ!
