December 2003
Vanguard Ministries member Brian Britton and his wife Valerie
have recently formed Crossworks International Ministries. They
see Crossworks as an “evangelistic, prophetic, and healing ministry
to the nations as well as to the church of America.” Brian has
been a Vanguard member since 2002 and has been affiliated with
Vanguard since 2001, when he began an internship with International
Director, Pastor Bobby Hill.
.
In the last two years, the Lord has opened up many doors for ministry
overseas for the couple in Russia, Belarus, Nigeria, India and
Malta. As a matter of fact, Brian is just returning from a two
week trip to Nigeria. While there, he ministered in local churches
in Lagos and at a four day healing convention in the national
capital of Abuja. “In one meeting we had in Abuja every person
who came with pain in their body left healed. Jesus healed all
who came! God is so awesome!” Last year, Brian ministered at several
crusades in three different areas of Nigeria which have been traditional
Muslim strongholds. This year’s trip culminated with an invitation
to worship at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where President
Obasanjo of Nigeria actually ministered during the Sunday school
hour of the service.
“It
is interesting how the Lord uses us in different ways in different
settings and cultures. In Africa, He has given us primarily a
crusade and power evangelism ministry. While in Russia and India,
the doors
are
more open to us for leadership training and ministry to pastors
and other church leaders. Here in the U.S. our ministry is beginning
to form as that of guest speakers/ministers and equippers of the
saints. Right now we just want to remain open to the leadings
of the Lord. Our desire is to go and be used in any situation
and opportunity that may arise. In the next year we will minister
in Malta, Kenya, Russia, Nigeria and India.”
At
home, Brian and Valerie both serve regularly in their local church,
New Life Christian Fellowship at Western Branch. They have served
as cell leaders and as part of the Leadership for a couple of
years. “Pastor Brent Lucy has allowed us to minister a great deal
and has supported us in all we have done. He has helped us nurture
what the Lord has called us to do, and given us the opportunity
to follow our callings inside and outside the church. We believe
very strongly in the importance of Biblical authority and in submitting
to our Pastor. We also minister regularly at Vanguard member Mike
Ola’s New Life Church of Suffolk.”
In the next year,
Brian and Valerie hope to grow their ministry on the home front.
Opportunities to minister overseas abound and since their website
went on the net, they have received invitations to minister internationally
almost every other day. “We love coming home to give testimony as
to what the Lord does in meetings overseas and then share how God
wants all of His children to experience His love and power. Our
God is a God of miracles. As Christians we are to walk naturally
in the supernatural. We believe revival is here in America, just
as it is in Nigeria, Brazil, or Argentina. Often times God uses
itinerant ministries like ours to raise the level of faith and expectancy
in a church. Then we see more freedom for the Lord to move among
His church with power and manifestations of the Spirit.”
Brian and Valerie met at Regent University
where they were both students in the School of Divinity. Valerie,
originally from Moscow, Russia had previously served many ministries
as she was and interpreter for seven years at one of
the
largest Charismatic churches in Moscow. Now they are beginning
to serve God together in the ministry. This past year they ministered
in Russia together for the first time as husband and wife. They
have also ministered together on their weekly radio broadcast
“He’s Alive!” “In the future we see ourselves serving as part
of a pastoral staff as well as continuing our itinerant ministry.”
We know the Lord has called us to Pastor as well, I think it is
just a matter of time. Right now, we just want to patiently and
faithfully serve where we are.”
