March 3-6, 2002
The Annual Conference for 2002 was held on March 3-6 in Chesapeake,
VA, where over 100 members and registrants gathered for spiritual renewal and
relationship building. The theme for the conference was "Bold Leadership
for Troubling Times." Those who attended were touched by the Lord's presence
and were challenged to take bold and courageous steps forward as Christian leaders.
The presentations were relevant and well received. Several noted the sense of
community and intimacy which seems to be developing among our members as they
share their hearts, struggles, and victories with one another.
On Tuesday, the pastors and spouses from our Partner Churches
gathered for a day retreat in nearby Williamsburg. The day was filled with loving,
sharing and supporting one another. There were plenty of laughs and tears. During
the Tuesday afternoon opening sessions, conclaves were convened focusing on different
areas of ministry concentration.
On of the highlights was a Women's Luncheon where Terri Meeuwsen
of the 700 Club spoke. All of the women wept as God poured out His love and mercy
on them. A worship concert with Jason Upton, one of our VM members and a rising
prophetic voice among post-moderns, attracted hundreds of young and old from the
community. The glory of God was so strong it was hard to stand under the cloud.
We ordained 10 new members during a special service. Two of
them were on staff at a local charismatic Presbyterian church...it was so cool
to see a convergence of believers and leaders come together to celebrate this
historical moment not only in their personal lives, but possible in the city as
more walls came down! Prophetic ministry over each couple continued for an hour.
