American Awakening 2004 Crusade
July
2004
This week 10 people from Word of Life
Covenant Church (WOLCC) in Rhode Island have headed to the Democratic
National Convention. They are not delegates. They are ambassadors,
the Lord’s ambassadors. They will join with Tommie Zito Ministries
(TZM) in a massive soul-winning crusade during the DNC being held
in Boston. According to Lance Wallnau, the American Awakening
2004 Crusade ( www.americanawakening.com
) is quite possibly the largest single concentrated outreach
and street ministry effort in the Boston area. The five-day event
will consist of revival meetings to be held every morning at 10
am and every night at 7pm at World Revival Church in Somerville,
MA, July 26-31, just two miles from the site of the DNC. Pastor
Lance says, “Tommie Zito has the ability to connect revival from
the sanctuary to the street like few others in this generation.”
Bernadette
Kimball, one of the Word of Life pastors, explains that their
group is particularly excited because they recently spent five
weeks under the tutelage of Tommie Zito Ministries. “Through his
evangelistic training Tommie imparts and an anointing that causes
your eyes to see with ‘eternal glasses’. You become more aware
of your eternal purpose, destiny and end-time harvest. When they
were with us they preached morning and night 6 days a week. During
the day the TMZ ministry team would accompany us on the street
for about 3 hours showing us how it was done. They encouraged
us to employ a simple script to tell people that God loves them
and has a plan for their lives. On my first day, 14 out of 15
people I spoke with accepted Christ!”
One
can’t help but get excited hearing the details of these excursions.
Bernadette tells story after story of the Lord’s miraculous intervention.
Once Tommie had a word of knowledge telling them to go to a local
Wendy’s and witness to a man who would be wearing a hat. They
asked the Lord, “Which Wendy’s?” The Holy Spirit told them. Upon
arrival the only people wearing hats were the female employees.
After waiting for a long time they finally realized that the person
behind the counter with the lovely curly hair was male, not female!
They prayed with this young man and ended up leading him to the
Lord along with all the other employees with the exception of
the manager!
During the five weeks
that Tommie Zito was at WOLCC they recorded around 1600 commitments.
Bernadette says that each name has been entered into a database
and they are continuing to reach out to these new converts. They
want this ministry to be earmarked by lasting fruit. An evangelistic
group of about 23 is being formed. The goal is to have one community
outreach each month and to have teams that witness weekly. Having
seen how the Lord used them in Rhode Island they are more than
expectant about what will happen in Boston.
While in the Boston area their group will stay at Eastern Nazarene
College where TMZ has arranged lodging, transportation and meals
for the 5-day event. Buses will shuttle people into the city where
they will go out in teams sharing the love and power of Jesus. Bernadette
says, “We’re excited to see what God will do. It’s a great opportunity
to reach those in positions of influence who have the ability to
bring about change.”
