Joseph Rejuney
Joseph Rejuney joined VM in May 2002. He has
been on staff at New Life Christian Fellowship as the Church Administrator since
February 2002. Joseph is currently a student at Regent University pursuing joint
degrees in Divinity and Human Services Counseling with graduation plans in the
summer of 2003. He is also a Candidate for the Ph.D. in Urban Services Education
at Old Dominion University, finishing his dissertation on Spiritual Development
in Higher Education. Prior to working at New Life, Joseph worked as the Statistical
Analyst for the Central Enrollment Management Department at Regent University.
He also has had the opportunity to work at Bluefield College, Old Dominion University
and to teach English for Virginia Beach Public Schools and at his former High
School. Although his past experiences have been in Education, he has recognized
his call to ministry since high school. Joseph began to walk out the call in obedience
after having it confirmed prophetically a little over a year ago. The prophetic
was so strong that he could no longer ignore God’s call. Over the past year,
God has revealed His sovereignty throughout Joseph’s life.
Joseph’s ministry as a United States Navy Chaplain Candidate is only
just beginning. He attended Chaplain Candidate School this summer for six weeks
in Newport, Rhode Island. It is truly amazing how God comes full circle, this
is where Joseph was born, at the Naval hospital on Quonset Point, Rhode Island.
As a prior enlisted Intelligence Specialist, Joseph saw young men and women who
were reaching out for meaning in their lives. Sadly, many of them turned to alcohol
and sexual promiscuity as a means to satisfy their emptiness. As a Navy Chaplain,
it is Joseph’s desire to reach the lost in the armed services as well as
disciple those who are new Christians. Part of his life vision is to transform
enlisted and officer members of the military and their families into disciples
of Jesus Christ and warriors in the army of God. His ultimate goal is to establish
a Navy Christian Center, so Christian men and women in the Navy have a place to
go for fellowship and worship. God gave Joseph this vision at the 2002 Vanguard
Conference during one of Pastor Bobby Hill’s discussions.
Joseph is passionate about the maintenance of purity, leadership development
and coaching, authentic and intentional relationships, worship, prayer, and Biblical
truth. He loves watching people grow into all that God has in store for them and
loves seeing young people on fire for the Lord. It is Joseph’s desire to
serve the Lord humbly and passionately not only as a Navy Chaplain but also as
a man after God’s own heart, just like David.
One of Joseph’s ministry goals include organizing and implementing a
Military Ministry for New Life Christian Fellowship. Through this ministry he
hopes to serve military spouses and their families while their military spouse
is on deployment. He would like to do this through cell groups and special Military
appreciation Sunday’s near Veterans Day and Memorial Day.
Please pray for Joseph as he continues to refine and develop the call of God
on his life as a United States Navy Chaplain, that he would be intentional in
his evangelism to reach non-believers in the military and that God would give
him an even bigger vision and heart for the people serving in the armed forces.
